Terms of Use — Sound Level · Baro

Last updated: 2026-08-09 · Privacy Policy · Support

By downloading or using Sound Level · Baro (“the App”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

License

The developer grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the App on devices you own or control, subject to the rules of the app store from which you obtained it (e.g. the Apple App Store or Google Play).

Purchase

Pricing, taxes, and refunds follow the policies of the store where you obtained the App. The developer does not operate separate billing or subscription systems inside the App.

Not a certified measuring instrument

This is the most important limitation, so it is stated plainly. A phone microphone is not a calibrated sound level meter. Its response varies by device model, by case, by wind, by how you hold it, and by the automatic gain control the operating system applies. Readings are indicative only and are not equivalent to a Class 1 or Class 2 instrument under IEC 61672 or any national equivalent.

Reference limits and disputes

The App displays published government and municipal noise thresholds as reference context beside your reading. It does not determine, certify, or assert that any legal limit has been exceeded, and its output is not a legal finding, an expert opinion, or evidence of a violation. Whether a limit applies to your situation — and whether it was breached — is decided by the authority, mediator, or court handling the matter, ordinarily on the basis of a measurement taken with calibrated equipment under a prescribed procedure. Published limits also change; the developer makes no warranty that the bundled figures are current or complete for your jurisdiction. Use the App to describe when, how long, and how often a disturbance occurred, and consult the responsible authority for anything that must be authoritative.

Your data is on your device

Your noise record lives only in the App's private storage on your device, capped at the most recent 500 entries. Deleting the App, resetting the device, or letting older entries age out will remove those records permanently — the developer holds no copy and cannot recover them for you. If a record matters to you, export or copy it yourself.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the App: for example, no reverse engineering to extract non-public APIs, no use that violates law or others’ rights, and no attempt to interfere with the App’s normal operation. Do not use the App to harass, surveil, or intimidate anyone.

Privacy

The App is designed to work without sending any data to the developer’s servers, and it never records audio. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided “as is” and “as available.” The developer does not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, accurate, or fit for a particular purpose. Do not rely on it where an error could cause injury, damage, or loss, and do not rely on it for hearing-safety, occupational-exposure, or compliance decisions.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, or for any loss of data or profits, except where liability cannot be excluded by applicable law.

Changes

These terms may be updated from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when they do. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the revised terms.
