Sound Level · Baro is a 100% on-device app. We do not collect, transmit, store, or share any personal information on our servers. There is no backend. There are no analytics, no ads, and no third-party trackers of any kind. Audio is never recorded.

| Microphone | To measure how loud it is around you. Incoming audio is converted to a level in decibels in memory, frame by frame, and discarded immediately. The app does not record audio, does not write any audio file, does not keep a buffer of what was said, and has no speech recognition of any kind. You can revoke the permission at any time in iOS Settings; the app then simply stops measuring. |
| Local storage (your noise record) | If you choose to log a disturbance, the app saves the start time, the duration, and the decibel figures the meter already displayed — numbers only, never audio. This is written to the app's private storage on this device (the most recent 500 entries) and can be cleared from the app at any time. |
| Reference noise limits | Published government and municipal noise thresholds are bundled inside the app as static data. Showing them requires no lookup, no location, and no network request. |
Sound Level · Baro does not request or use the camera, location, contacts, photos, or health data.
Nothing from the app itself. The app makes no network requests — not for measurement, not for the limit tables, not for storage, not for analytics, not for updates. Your noise record never syncs anywhere and there is no account. You can verify this in airplane mode: measurement, the limit comparison, and the record all continue to work.
If you export or share your record yourself — for example, sending it to a mediation centre or a building manager — that transfer is initiated by you, through the app you chose, and the developer is not involved in it and receives no copy.
Opening a link to another Baro app in the App Store (cross-promo footer), or tapping “send an idea” to open your own email app, hands off externally. Those are the only optional, user-initiated external actions.
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
If this policy changes, the updated version will appear here and the “Last updated” date above will change.
